Arsenal bargain Giroud should learn from Van Persie, not replace him

Giroud has always dreamt of plying his trade in the Premier League and putting on the Arsenal’s colours. He doesn’t need to discuss it with Koscielny. He doesn’t need to be convinced by anyone. It was just his dream and he was hoping that it could become a reality one day.

t’s not a done deal yet but reports both in England and in France agree that talks between the two parties are ongoing. The Gunners won’t comment on it but it’s common knowledge now that Wenger is a big fan of Giroud, like many other coaches in Europe.

Girard and his president Louis Nicollin know of Giroud’s desire to become a Gunner.

So what can Arsenal fans and Emirates Stadium regulars expect if Giroud becomes yet another French signing for Wenger this summer?

They will see a very tall and physical player, a pure goalscorer. As an added sweetener, in 2011-12 he netted against all the France’s big guns bar PSG in Olympique de Marseille, Lille, and Olympique Lyonnais.

At the moment, Robin van Persie remains a Gunner, and Giroud would not be brought in to replace him. They could play together or, if the Dutchman stays, the Frenchman could shadow him as his understudy and prepare to succeed him in future.

There is no need to remind anyone that Wenger rarely gets it wrong when it comes to signing a French forward. Gilles Grimandi, Arsenal’s scout in France, has watched Giroud many times this season and each time, he loved him more and more.

FT Netherlands 1 – 2 Germany

FT Netherlands 1 – 2 Germany

Germany lead with two victories but the Dutch, with none at all, still have theoretical prospect of advancing to the quarter-finals.

It was too easy for Bastian Schweinsteiger to pass the ball straight through the middle, but Mario Gomez still reacted beautifully, spinning to shoot beyond Stekelenburg.

The match appeared to tilt when Robin van Persie trimmed the Dutch deficit to 2-1, but Germany were the more poised side.

“Germany has a very good team, with lots of passing. They can score as they please. They’re definitely favourites.”

Bert van Marwijk

Holland, all the same, had not despaired. The gap was closed to 2-1 by Van Persie’s unanswerable drive from the left.

FT Portugal 3 – 2 Denmark

Tonight it’s a special night for Nicklas Bendtner. He scored twice for Dynamite.

Pepe scored for opener at 24′. Helder Postiga had double the lead by two at 36′.

At 41′, Bendtner brought a new hope for Denmark by scoring from header.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a nightmare tonight. He didn’t do anything that help Portugal to make a score.

A strong header from Nicky B at 80′ made the score tie 2-2.

Finally, the super sub, Varela, had made a screamer at 87′ and brought a Portugal win the match.

However, we have got a one point tonight,

He’s totally better than Ronaldo 😉

FT Poland 1 – 1 Russia

Great header from Alan Dzagoev and stunning goal from Jacob Blaszczykowski made the Russia and Poland shared a point. Russia 4 points, Poland 2 points.
